Skala, which is 31 km. from Argostoli, has a very beautiful beach and
crystal clear water. Remains of a Roman Villa with fine mosaics have been found in this
area. The remains of a poros temple have been discovered a little further north. The column
capital in the Archaeological Museum of Argostoli belongs to this temple.
On the road from Skala to Poros, there are the villages of Spathi, Asproyerakas
(outside which there are remains of Cyclopean walls) and Anninata.

Poros is one of the island's most popular resorts, throbbling with
life in the summer months. It owes its popularity to its magnificent natural setting, its
superb beach and clear seas, and to the amenities it offers to visitors. In its busy port there
is a marina and there are services to the harbour of Kyllini in the Peloponnese.
The stretch of road between Tzanata and Poros is known as the Poros Straits. It runs
between tall rocks of an awe inspiring beauty and majesty. To the northwest of Poros a small
road leads to the monastery of the Panagia Atrou, the oldest monastery on the island.
It stands in an impressive setting, on a hill 500 meters high, with a marvellous view over
the surrounding area. From Poros a road to the northwest passes through the villages of
Tzanata, Agios Nikolaos, Koulourata, Grizata, and ends in Sami.
